Wei Li

Research Assistant Professor - Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering

Li obtained his Ph.D. in materials science from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He worked at Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia as a postdoctoral fellow in 2012–2014. In 2015, he received his Marie-Curie COFUND fellowship and worked at International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Portugal. He worked at Utah State University in 2018 and then moved to West Virginia University in 2018.

He has been working on electrochemical energy storage and conversion (Li-ion, Li-S, Li-air, Zn-air and Zn-ion batteries, fuel cells and water electrolysis for hydrogen production), thermochemical looping, CO2 capture and catalytic conversion, heterogeneous catalysis, water treatment and gas sensing.

He has published over 78 peer-reviewed journal articles (25 first/co-first/corresponding authored journal papers, 24 papers with citations > 100) in high-impact journals (Nature Commun., EES, AEM, Chem etc.), 1 book chapter, and 3 patents with total citations of more than 6800 and an h index of 46 (as of July 2023). He has received Global Peer Review Awards in 2018 and 2019 as the globally top 1% of reviewers from Clarivate Web of Science Publons.
