Professor and Associate Chair for Education - Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering
Mucino graduated from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, 1974 and earned his doctorate at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1981. He worked as a Professor at the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and joined WVU in 1985. His areas of research include mechanical engineering design, dynamics of mechanical systems, finite element analysis and mechanics of materials.
Mucino has been proactive in international engineering education and has developed collaborations with institutions in Mexico and Italy. Currently, Mucino directs WVU's Industrial Outreach Program, in which engineering students from WVU and Mexico team up to conduct meaningful engineering projects in industry abroad. This program provides a full professional and cultural immersion to participating students in the form of a capstone design project and has been in operation since 1997.
Mucino is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of Mexico’s Academy of Engineering. He currently serves as the Associate Chair and Graduate Program Director of the MMAE Department.
