Academic Advisor - Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources
My advising philosophy centers on facilitating each student’s journey toward meaningful degree completion through intentional guidance and genuine support. I strive to create an environment where students feel both encouraged and empowered to take ownership of their education, drawing heavily on Aster’s Theory of Involvement and a holistic, humanistic understanding of the individuals I serve. Colleagues describe my approach as thorough, engaged, proactive, and deeply appreciative of my students’ strengths and aspirations. I bring strong deductive thinking and forward-planning skills to my work, while acknowledging that my relative lack of experience continues to shape my growth as an advisor. Above all, I believe that effective advising must be holistic - recognizing that students do not exist in academic silos and deserve guidance that honors the full context of their lives.
