Dr. Yang joined WVU in 1982, after holding faculty positions at Edinburgh University (UK), University of Queensland (Australia) and Cornell University (sabbatical leave), and also working in petroleum industry. His research activities, both experimental and theoretical, lie in the fields of biotechnology/bioengineering, reaction engineering, and system analysis/modeling:
