Assistant Professor - Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering
Nick begin his role as assistant professor in the MMAE Department at WVU in Fall 2020. There he is the director of the Neuro-Mechanical Intelligence Laboratory. Previously, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Biologically Inspired Robotics Laboratory at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a postdoctoral fellow at the Zoological Institute at the University of Cologne in Cologne, Germany. Nick received his Ph.D. (2017), M.S. (2013), and B.S. (2012) in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. Nick maintains several interdisciplinary research collaborations in Europe and North America. In his research, he collaborates with neuroscientists to building and control robots by applying what is known about animals’ mechanics and nervous systems.
