Research Associate Professor - Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering
Eduardo M. Sosa is currently a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering. Sosa’s research interests include the development and implementation of rapidly deployable membrane structures for the protection and resilience of transportation infrastructure, with expertise in structural design, material testing, evaluation of prototypes at multiple scales, finite element simulations as well as on the transition from experimental prototypes to field implementation. He has been Project Coordinator, Co-Principal Investigator, and Principal Investigator during the different phases of the Resilient Tunnel Project (RTP) sponsored by the US Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (DHS S&T) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL).
Sosa conducted research on the stability of thin-walled structures subjected to extreme loads. He also collaborates with researchers of the Department of Mining and Industrial Extension at WVU on the development of different projects related to miner’s safety and training.
